On February 18, 2014, the Ministry of Health (MOH) Nutrition Directorate in Haiti, with support from SPRING/Haiti, held a one-day meeting with 42 nutrition partners from 17 partner institutions, including USAID, to develop a multisectoral strategy to reduce undernutrition in Haiti. The meeting focused on improving food security, mapping the interventions of nutrition partners, and improving the quality of nutrition services through nutrition assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) at both the community and health facility levels. The MOH Nutrition Directorate emphasized the need for partner support to carry out nutrition interventions in institutions. To address this need, the meeting participants established a "Multi Stakeholder Nutrition Working Group," which will meet every three months. Dr. Joseline Marhône Pierre, Director of the Nutrition Unit and SUN Haiti Focal Point, officially closed the meeting with the announcement of the SUN movement launch which take place in June 2014 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. SPRING/Haiti will continue to support the SUN movement in Haiti with technical support to the MOH and coordinating structures for scaling up nutrition.
