Uganda has well documented the problem of micronutrient deficiencies. To help combat this issue, Mukwano Oil Industries and BIDCO Uganda Limited have been fortifying oil with vitamin A since 2004. To a lesser degree, Maganjo Grain Millers and Unga 2000 have also been fortifying maize with a multi-mix for a similar period of time. This report presents the information that has been compiled through three inspection rounds in Uganda since 2006 to determine the quality of the fortified foods in the market, during importation and at local fortifying plants.
